Fr Julian Green was born in Stoke-on-Trent and brought up in nearby Newcastle-under-Lyme. He studied at St Chad's College, Durham University obtaining a degree in Theology. After a year of work in Stoke, he was accepted for training for the priesthood in the Archdiocese of Birmingham, spending six years at the Royal English College of St Alban in Valladolid, Spain. After Ordination to the Priesthood in 1996, he was appointed as curate firstly to Holy Trinity, Sutton Coldfield and then St Wulstan's, Wolstanton, and a few monts as priest-in-charge at Our Lady & St Peter's, Stoke. After two further years of study at the Pontifical University of Salamanca, Spain, he obtained the Licenciate in Sacred Theology. Returning to England he was appointed Parish Priest of St Peter & St Paul's Parish in Erdington, Birmingham, and started teaching Ecclesiology at the Diocesan seminary, Oscott College. He continued to teach at the seminary for 13 years, simultaneously teaching at the Maryvale Institute in Birmingham for 20 years. In 2006, Fr Julian was appointed Catholic Chaplain to the University of Birmingham. After a year of study leave, during which he lived at St Teresa's, Trent Vale, he was appointed as Parish Priest of the three parishes of Biddulph, Goldenhill and Kidsgrove, with responsibility for St Patrick's Packmoor in 2012. As a cluster of churches this was known, from the beginning of Fr Julian's ministry in the parishes, as the Partnership of Parishes of Our Lady of Grace. After a Visitation in 2022, the three parisehs became one in the New Year of 2024, and Fr Julian was confirmed in his appointment as Parish Priest of the new Parish of Our Lady of Grace.
